The Burning of Wang Yeh Boat is a folk activity widely spread in southern Fujian ,China and the coastal areas of Malacca and Malaysia to pray for disaster relief. It is a sacrificial activity held by the people of southern Fujian to express their awe and gratitude to the ocean.
It has a history of more than 600 years. The Burning of Wang Yeh Boat at the Jiulong River Jinfa Palace in Zhangzhou offers sacrifices to the gods of the water , appeases the lonely souls in distress in the water, and prays for peace and prosperity on the water and good fishing.
The shiny part is a metaphor for the dead soul.
